Five things you can do because of Twitter

I noticed a few people actually tweeting at #kronosworks. That was very cool. But I bet most of you wonder just what it's all about and come on, really, "Why should I care?"

To be honest, not everyone should. But many might find it useful so I'm going to list a few reasons and tools below. If you've gotten past the, "What is Twitter?" question...

  1. You have open teams working on projects. One very cool think you can do with Twitter is generate buzz about your project. Using a tool like Tweetchat, one can follow a conversation with a hashtag. This makes it like a public version of an in house chat with Yahoo or some other IM. Advertise the chat and who knows what might happen or who'll drop by.I just participated in one today #innochat. It was quite enlightening about a subject I'm interested in.
  2. There is a need to market to youth. Let's face it, they are on Twitter. If you are on it = you will be found by them.
  3. You are in charge of communications. Use Twitter as a microblog. Report the goings on of the IHRIM conference with short reports and picture. Simply create a hastag #socalIHRIM and put it in every post. Tell people to follow that hashtag using Tweetchat or some other tool.
  4. I'm on Twitter but I'm lost. Download Tweetdeck for your desktop and Echofon for your iPhone. Read the 7 habits of highly effective twitterers. Everything will be fine.
  5. You search Google. Search Twitter too.
